Welcome to the world of Global Riders!
This site is a showcase of all the content from the Global Riders Network.
That being the case, visitors to this site may well see a lot more information and discussion than they are really interested in. It is recommended that visitors browse on a more localised partner site that has a limited amount of content. These sites are listed on the the Global Riders Network homepage.
That said, it's always interesting to see what's happening elsewhere in the world, so feel free to browse around.

Port Macquaire Mountain Festival CANCELLED
Black Heart events cancels another event. Heard the reason is more lame, than when they cancelled the Bottlebutt the first time. This was a 2 day big event, weathers good, how can it just not happen. Poor attendance?, someone doesn't make money?. Even the council was behind this one.

How my helmet saved me...
Got my helmet back... Going to be needing a new one after my stack at the Convict. Ive already ordered a 2012 version, as the 2011 one worked pretty well in my opinion - after all, i am typing this...
The top is dented and all the damage is to the left temple area!
If you can see on the close up, the cracks going through the foam - spread the impact load very well IMO.
Nice vid, but short.
These guys make it look so easy...

Wish I could ride like that!
Happy and scared!
Went for a ride on my new (and 1st) dually today. Avanti Torrent 3 2011. Picked it up for $3100 including pedals, shock pump and delivery from over east, which i thought was a bargin. WOW... it rides soooo much faster than my old hard-tail it's scary. Now i just have to sort out what shock pressures and settings to use. WooHoooo.
International Race Insurance
I'm off to Race in the BC Bike Race in Canada in a month and I'm struggling to find an insurance company that will cover me.
Many do "adventure sports" insurance, but there always seesm to be a caveat to exclude racing.
Anybody tackled this one before or got any ideas?
Cheers
World 24hr
Is there a way of following this weekends 24hr World Champs?
I'd love to follow it. I'm assuming this WEMBO site is it... although there are no links I can see re: live timing.
Avanti and Scott demo tour - Jarrahdale
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
South West Highway Directions - Langford Park is located on Nettleton Road in Jarrahdale. This is about 45 to 50 minutes drive south from the centre of Perth. You can either go down the South West Highway and turn left onto Nettleton Road just as you leave Byford (Peak petrol station on the corner) and proceed along Nettleton Road until you cross a set of disused train tracks. The entrance to Langford Park will be on your right about 400m after the train line. You will cross the train line again as you enter the park and you should follow the signs at the round about that take you to the lake car park. On race day a marshal will direct you from the round about.
Freeway directions - If you come down the freeway (best for those people from the northern or western suburbs and Fremantle people) exit the freeway at Mundijong Road and turn left towards the hills. Take Mundijong road all the way to the South West Highway and turn right. Take an immediate left into Jarrahdale road and continue up the hill for about 3kms. Nettleton Road will be on your left just after you enter the 60km speed zone. Proceeed for about 1km and Langford Park will be on the left. Drive into the park and you will get to a roundabout, follow the signs at the round about that take you to the lake car park. On race day a marshal will driect you from the round about.

RFS / NPWS Hazard Reduction Burns
The NPWS & RFS have a number of Hazard reduction burns planned for this weekend, some starting today.
Following on from the burns during the week and last weekend at Seaforth Oval & The Sydney Academy of Sports on the Wakehurst Parkway they are looking to take advantage of the recent spell of dry weather and run a number of burns. These are scheduled to start tonight at Deep Creek and tomorrow at Wirrenda Creek. These shouldn't affect the usual riding spots, but there may be effects from the smoke.
