Welcome

Welcome to the world of Global Riders!

This site is a showcase of all the content from the Global Riders Network.

That being the case, visitors to this site may well see a lot more information and discussion than they are really interested in. It is recommended that visitors browse on a more localised partner site that has a limited amount of content. These sites are listed on the the Global Riders Network homepage.

That said, it's always interesting to see what's happening elsewhere in the world, so feel free to browse around.

Beauie World's Sunday 26th February - Chris Froome @ Beauie

Well that headline no doubt caught your attention. While Chris did ride with Harrison Bailey, one of our gun riders, he unfortunately can't be at Beauie this Sunday.

However, every other hitter in the region will be there to claim honours in the first Beauie for 2017. There are imitators in the crit racing scene, but there's only one Beauie - a perfect tight and fast circuit that has become the benchmark and Sydney's premier criterium race.

There will be 4 grades A-D, in a scratch race format.

The Oaks Single Track Status?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Does anyone know what the current status is with the Oaks Single track? I recall part of it being closed due to asbestos a while back?

How is the trail running from top to bottom at the moment?

Cheers

Amazingly dry considering all the storms recently. Only a couple of puddles. Could do with a trail "mow" like duck hole and children.

And now for some big news - the first stages of OMV 2.0 have opened - partially. After 1pm on Saturdays, and on Sundays only, as trucks use it during the week, according to the SNORC website.
I think it's presently less than 2km but it is a step in the right direction. Haven't been there yet but am very much looking forward to very shortly!

Word has it that the side east of the main firetrail is open on weekends (when no trucks are using this), but don't quote me on it!

Excellent downhill bike. Worthy of a rider with more skill and less fear than me. It's pretty much strictly downhill, but if you're keen you could pedal around on it. It's only been taken out properly maybe 5 times... then I moved overseas for 7 years. I serviced it twice when I was using it. It's been in storage ever since and is thus in pretty excellent condition. I still have all the manuals (and even an introductory CD-ROM to guide you through setting up the shocks). It's the large frame, so works best for taller riders. $3100 new, a great buy at $1200.

Rockshox Reba Pushloc to Crown Manual lockout

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi, I currently have a Handlebar Pushloc fitted to my 2012 Rockshox Reba Forks of course it doesnt work so I want to fit a Manual lockout to the top of my fork so my question is do I need to buy

1. a new Damper "and" the Manual lockout kit ( blue knob) or

2. just the Blue Knob Manual Lockout Kit

the reason I'm asking I've read, its just a matter of removing the damper from within the fork, unclipping the spring from inside and then screwing back together and then fitting the mew " Manual Blue knob kit" to the top and voila its a manual lockout ?

We desperately need some helpers to dig in some track leading into the new tunnel. We need to put this in before the Rocky Trail 24 hour race this weekend. Our club receives substantial financial benefit from hosting these races, so we need some help please.
When: Thursday 16th February, from 4pm onwards. Get there when you can, even if it’s not till 6pm. Every little bit helps.
Where: Awaba. Near the tunnel – walk up from the finish of the downhill track.
