Welcome to the world of Global Riders!

This site is a showcase of all the content from the Global Riders Network.

That being the case, visitors to this site may well see a lot more information and discussion than they are really interested in. It is recommended that visitors browse on a more localised partner site that has a limited amount of content. These sites are listed on the the Global Riders Network homepage.

That said, it's always interesting to see what's happening elsewhere in the world, so feel free to browse around.

Mostly dry through the day today but we'd struggle to call it Green, some areas were still pretty wet in the afternoon. Forecast looks better for the morning.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

Rain has been getting heavier here all afternoon. It won't be good to ride straight up in the morning, will need some time to dry out after the rain stops.

Bike thefts in Dee Why

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post

A couple of weeks ago my Cannondale Rush 3 (the one with the leftie fork) mountain bike was stolen from a secure garage in Dee Why. I understand from the police that there has been a series of similar thefts in the area and thought it would be worthwhile reaching out to the community. The perpetrator was very blatant and besides cutting through a rubber-coated steel cable continued with the theft in spite of being confronted by my neighbour.

I imagine the model of bike with the mods that are on it would be very rarely seen around Sydney, so am hoping someone may have seen it.

Pretty well dry all over, maybe a couple of small puddles but we'd have to call it green now.

A really good day of drying weather and the trails are starting to dry nicely this arv, now it all depends on the weather overnight. There’s a bit of rain forecast but at this stage it doesn’t look like much so we might see conditions OK by later tomorrow. I’ll try to post an update but if anyone looks please let us know how it is.

Yes it's raining. For people not close enough to check it out it is definitely too wet to ride.
Not sure when this will stop but trails will need some time to dry out so we're not causing damage and erosion.

Just a reminder that the Port to Port MTB stage race is on this week and coming to Glenrock on Sunday.

The race starts from Belmont Golf course at 8am and they ride via the Redhead/Whitebridge trails then up from Dudley Beach carpark to Scout Camp rd and into DeLuge.
Front runners might be there around 9 with the main traffic being from about 930 ‘til 12.
The course takes them out to the picnic bench then up Snakes & Ladders, back to the Gun Club gate, around Kenny’s and Dr Seuss exiting at the Treatment Works onto Scenic Drive.

Seismick Tree Planting

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The area around Seismick has been attracting much interest recently with the clearing and hopes that the MTB trail might be expanded, well that’s not just yet. What is happening is stage two of the regeneration of the area by planting native trees. Once established the natives will naturally reclaim the area, shade out the weeds and provide a much needed canopy and shade for the trail.

Running Event

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Just a reminder that the Coastal Ascent running event is on tomorrow – Sun 28th of April. Most of the course is within Glenrock.

Although they don’t use any of the MTB singletrck they will be on the management trails and it would be impossible to do a lap without crossing the course.

Please be aware and careful as there will probably be large numbers and a lot of these people will be novice and unaware of the MTB trails.

Snakes & Ladders Prep Work

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Preparation work will begin on Snakes & Ladders tomorrow – Thur 25th of April

So please be aware that there may be machines and trucks working in the area. Stockpiles of gravel and rock will be located along the trail which may also be a hazard so take care and please give way to the NPWS guys who are doing this work for us and for better MTB trails.

This prep work is for the build day to be held on Saturday 4th of May.
