All riders must have a Hancock Forest Permit to ride on the Forest. These are available from the Nelson MTB Club as part of membershiop for residents. If you are visiting, you can buy a temporary pass at local bike shops, including Stewart Cycles, R&R and Kelvin's Cycles.
